As we near the end of another year, we look back at a year full of major milestones. 

We’d all love to know the DATE (or month) that Prairie Food Co-op will open its doors - after 10+ years of hard work and dedication to turn this idea of a mission-driven community-owned store into a reality.

We have some exciting news to share!

Prairie Food Co-op made the front page of the Chicago Tribune! We were featured in an excellent article about co-ops in the Chicagoland area. Board President, Kathy Nash was interviewed, and quoted, in the article.

Check out this inspiring report on the impacts that food co-ops have on their community. A few highlights: What is a food co-op? (we hope you know but just in case....) A food co-op is a grocery store owned by your neighbors (and by you, if you choose). Unlike corporate chains, co-ops are totally independent and owned by folks in the community that shop there.

As the effects of COVID 19 profoundly alter our lives and shake up the way we do almost everything, we are reminded that our current food system is unsustainable.
